has announced iPhone Messenger app that will allow users to make call to their friends and family for free over Wi-Fi. Calls can also be made using data service.
Facebook has updated its Messenger for iPhone app, Now it allows iPhone Users in theU.S. to make free voice calls to friends and Social network (Facebook) members. People using Messenger on iPhone will see a "Free Call" button located on friends' contact info pages inside the app. In order to make calls just click of the button and it will dial up. These calls are made either over Wi-Fi or phone's data connection. The Verge statsthat The Free calls feature was introduced in January to Canadian users as a test. Which now seems ready as is it launched in U.S this Wednesday. This Tuesday, Facebook introduced a smart search engine called Graph Search which allows users to conduct natural searches of content, shared by their friends.
After this initiative Facebook looks a potential threat to Cellular carriers. Al-though similar free calling services have been available in the market by different networks for instance, Gmail chat but Facebook's offering seems better for the youngsters where it matters the most. This service will ensure that youngsters spend more time using Facebook any other group of age.
Facebook Messenger for iPhone App does not require any update from app store to provide free calling feature to U.S. users.
